On 16-October Chill led the Cub Scouts in some hands on fun about home repair (reference page 203 in the Cub Book).
What did your Cub Scouts do:
- How to replace a light bulb – they removed/replaced light bulbs in table lamps.
- How to lubricate a door hinge and lock – they used regular 3-in-1 oil to lubricate door hinges and jig-a-loo to lubricate door locks.
- How to hang a picture frame – drill a hole in drywall, use plugs and screw to hang a frame.
- How to replace a doorknob – using a real door, unscrew, remove and re-install a doorknob.
Badge Requirements:
With the help of an adult, do any seven (7) of the following:
- Show how to turn on and off the electric power supply and the water supply in your home. Explain how to turn off the gas supply if your home uses gas. [see info below]
- Replace a light bulb in a socket. [completed at the meeting]
- Replace a tap washer. [see info below]
- Lubricate a door hinge and/or lock. [completed at the meeting]
- Finish a wood surface and stain.
- Properly prepare and paint a piece of wood or metal. [if not already done – Kub Kar in March]
- Help keep work areas, such as garage or basement, clean and tidy for one month.
- Re-sod or reseed a worn out part of a lawn.
- Tell or show how to clear a stopped up sink or toilet.
- Replace a doorknob or install any kind of door or window lock. [completed at meeting]
